Sky’s Pancreas Partners is a Type 1 Diabetes nonprofit serving families, caregivers, and educators across Michigan. Our work centers on diabetes advocacy for children, T1D education and awareness, and building confidence through school readiness, family advocacy, and community-based support.
Our Mission
Sky’s Pancreas Partners exists to support families navigating a Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis by bridging the gap between clinical instruction and real-world confidence. We do this through education, advocacy, school readiness planning, and community-centered support that helps families move forward informed, prepared, and empowered.

A world where every family facing a Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis feels prepared, supported, and empowered to manage life with T1D safely, confidently, and without isolation.

Sky’s Pancreas Partners operates as a community stabilization and education partner, supporting families as they move from clinical instruction to real-world application.
We recognize that confidence, competence, and emotional resilience are built through lived practice, advocacy, and community support — not discharge paperwork alone.
Our Service Area
Proudly serving Metro Detroit, MI. While our primary focus is local, resources and referrals may be available to families, schools, and partners outside the region.
Programs & Focus Areas
Community-centered support designed to meet people where they are—newly diagnosed, long-time living with T1D, and everyone in between.
Includes:
- T1D-friendly pantry distributions (in development)
- Kid-approved, family-friendly food options aligned with diabetes care
- Emergency food and essential diabetes supply support
- Community-based grocery, food, and diabetic supply partnerships
- School staff training and readiness workshops
- 504 plan education and advocacy support
- Youth-centered awareness and inclusion programming
- Distribution of T1D Go Kits for school environments
Includes:
- Practical diabetes management education
- Emergency preparedness and real-life simulations
- Nutrition, technology, and daily routine guidance
- Care coordination education (insurance, providers, school communication)
In development:
A phased community hub model beginning with awareness, workshops, and immersive education, and expanding over time toward post-hospital stabilization and respite-style support for youth following juvenile DKA events. Future phases are designed to support holistic post-diagnosis confidence and structured family stabilization in collaboration with child-serving systems, as capacity allows.
